Project 2: Lower Limbs

Improving lower limb motor control with spinal cord stimulation

After a spinal cord injury, recovery of movement and walking often is often incomplete, leading to persistent deficits and instability.

This project seeks to enhance walking recovery by combining thoracolumbar transcutaneous spinal cord stimulation, a non-invasive technique that activates spinal cord networks painlessly, with gait training. Artificial intelligence will be used to quickly optimize stimulation parameters, maximizing the benefits of this rehabilitation approach.
