Who are we?

The CIME program proposes research projects aimed at evaluating the impact of innovative therapies that combine best clinical practices in rehabilitation with neuromodulation, meaning electrical or magnetic stimulation applied to the nerves, brain, or spinal cord to modify the activity of the nervous system.

The research team is made up of researchers, students, clinicians, and patient partners, and brings together clinical expertise, neuromodulation knowledge, and implementation science, all of which are necessary to carry out the proposed projects.

Our values

Collaboration

The CIME program was developed through collaboration between researchers, clinical teams and patient partners. Suggestions for innovative interventions arise from exchanges among the various stakeholders involved in the care of individuals with spinal cord injuries, including the patients themselves. This core value is at the heart of the Living Lab approach—a large, “living” laboratory where experiments are conducted directly with clinicians to create treatments tailored to the clinical needs of users.

Patient-Centered

Each project is based on one of the main concerns of individuals living with a spinal cord injury: motor function, bladder function, and pain.

The CIME program provides sessions that complement standard treatments, focusing on a specific function that may be affected.

Diversity and Inclusion

The CIME program ensures fair and inclusive recruitment, regardless of the characteristics of individuals with a spinal cord injury.

The diversity of projects aims to encompass the range of impairments experienced by people with a spinal cord injury.
