Project 4: Pain

Reducing neuropathic pain with combined neuromodulation techniques

Neuropathic pain—a type of pain caused by dysfunction or damage of the nervous system—often presents as burning, tingling, or electric-shock sensations. It is a common consequence of spinal cord injury and can profoundly impact patients’ daily lives.

This project evaluates the combined effects of virtual reality, muscle vibration, and transcranial direct current stimulation (tDCS) on neuropathic pain. It also aims to provide deeper insight into patients’ experiences with this innovative therapeutic approach.
